For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

16 oz (450 g) cream cheese, softened

5 cups (600 g) powdered sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Step 1: Make the Cake Batter

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

In a separate bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Whisk just until combined—do not overmix to keep the cake light and tender.
Step 2: Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 3: Make the Cream Cheese Frosting

In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
