
Cotton Candy Cake Recipe ππ
Ingredients:
For the cake:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
2 ½ tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
-
4 large eggs, room temperature
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 cup whole milk, room temperature
-
Pink & blue gel food coloring
For the buttercream frosting:
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
4 cups powdered sugar
-
2–3 tbsp heavy cream or milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
Pink & blue gel food coloring
For decoration:
-
Cotton candy (pink & blue)
-
White chocolate or candy melts (for drip effect)
-
Sprinkles
Instructions:
-
Prepare the cake batter:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
-
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
-
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.

Color & bake:
-
Divide batter into three portions. Keep one plain, color one pink, and one blue.
-
Pour each into a separate cake pan. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool completely before frosting.

Make the buttercream frosting:
-
Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with cream.
-
Beat in vanilla extract. Divide into three portions and tint one pink, one blue, leaving one white.

Assemble the cake:
-
Place blue cake layer on a serving plate, spread blue frosting on top.
-
Add white cake layer, spread white frosting.
-
Add pink cake layer, spread pink frosting all over cake for crumb coat. Chill for 30 minutes.

Decorate:
-
Apply final frosting layers in ombre effect (blue bottom, white middle, pink top).
-
Melt white chocolate or candy melts, drizzle along the edges for the drip effect.
-
Top with cotton candy just before serving and sprinkle with colorful sprinkles.

β¨ Tip: Add the cotton candy right before serving so it stays fluffy and doesn’t melt from the frosting.
