Stomach Cancer: Silent but Dangerous – Know the Early Signs

Stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, often develops silently, with early symptoms that may be subtle or mistaken for less serious conditions. Some warning signs to watch for include persistent indigestion, feeling full after eating small amounts, unexplained weight loss, abdominal pain or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. It's important to consult a doctor if these symptoms persist—especially if they are new or worsening.

Early Signs and Symptoms of Stomach Cancer:

1. Indigestion or Stomach Discomfort:
This is one of the most common symptoms and may include heartburn, bloating, frequent burping, and difficulty digesting food.

2. Feeling Full After Eating Small Amounts:
Even after eating a small portion, you may feel an unusual and lingering sense of fullness.

3. Unexplained Weight Loss:
If you're losing weight without any changes in diet or physical activity, it’s important to investigate the cause.

4. Abdominal Pain or Discomfort:
The pain may be vague or more localized, occurring in the upper abdomen or behind the breastbone.

5. Nausea and Vomiting:
These symptoms may come and go, but they should not be ignored—especially if blood is present.

6. Fatigue:
Ongoing or unexplained fatigue can be a sign of stomach cancer.

7. Dark or Bloody Stools:
If your stools are black or contain blood, seek medical attention immediately.

8. Difficulty Swallowing:
This can gradually worsen over time and may indicate a problem in the esophagus or stomach.

Important Note:
These symptoms may also be caused by other conditions. However, if you experience them persistently, it's essential to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
