Fatty Liver Reversed Completely by Doing This Simple Daily Habit, Says Doctor: “It’s Free and Easy”

After a routine medical checkup, a 47-year-old patient was thrilled when the doctor announced that his fatty liver condition had “completely disappeared.” The secret? A simple daily habit he had maintained consistently.
According to a report from a health news outlet in China, Dr. Xiao Xiejian, an internal medicine resident at Hsinchu Hospital, affiliated with National Taiwan University, successfully helped a 47-year-old patient named Fang Yat recover from fatty liver disease in just three months.
Dr. Xiao explained that three months earlier, Fang Yat had come in for a routine checkup, where tests revealed high levels of visceral fat, elevated blood sugar, and fatty liver. Since the conditions were not yet severe, the doctor advised him to make lifestyle and dietary changes rather than rely on medication.
When Fang Yat returned recently for a follow-up, the results were remarkable: he had lost 10% of his body fat, and his fatty liver had completely resolved. His blood sugar levels had also returned to normal.
Dr. Xiao remarked, “The patient’s appearance was completely transformed. From someone with a large belly, he came back looking muscular and much fitter.”
Fang Yat shared that during the past three months, he committed to daily exercise. His routine included push-ups on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and sit-ups on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — for about one hour each session.
Dr. Xiao confirmed that both push-ups and sit-ups are particularly effective at reducing visceral fat.
“These exercises not only burn excess abdominal fat but also help build muscle,” Dr. Xiao said. “They are simple, practical, and require no special equipment, unlike many other workouts.”
According to U.S. health site WebMD, being overweight is a major contributor to fatty liver disease, as excess fat and sugar from diet are stored in the liver. Regular physical activity stimulates muscle to burn energy and fat more efficiently, helping reduce fat buildup in the liver.
Dr. Ray Kim, president of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, noted that exercise is one of the most effective methods to manage fatty liver, even without a strict diet.
Dr. Robert Lufkin, a medical doctor and contributor to WebMD, added that different exercises work in different ways. In addition to push-ups and sit-ups, people can also try brisk walking, jogging, or weight training.
Still, health experts emphasize that any form of physical activity can help manage fatty liver disease.
“Most research shows that exercising for 30 to 60 minutes a day, three times a week for 12 weeks, can significantly reduce liver fat,” said Associate Professor Anastasia-Stefania Alexopoulos from the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Nutrition at Duke University School of Medicine.
