3 Selfish Habits of Husbands That Increase Their Wives’ Risk of Cervical Cancer – Stop Them Now Before They Harm the Whole Family

Some selfish and harmful habits from a husband can become contributing factors to cervical cancer in their wives.

1. Frequently Smoking

Many men are addicted to smoking, with some going through an entire pack a day. They may smoke due to stress, sadness, or simply out of habit. However, this is a dangerous behavior that can harm not only themselves but also their wives.

Secondhand smoke exposure carries almost the same level of health risk as active smoking. It has been proven to negatively affect a woman’s reproductive system, increasing the risk of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and premature birth. Additionally, women exposed to secondhand smoke are at higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, respiratory issues, and other serious health problems.

2. Refusing to Use Protection During Intimacy

One of the safest ways to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is to use condoms. Studies show that condoms can protect women from sexually transmitted diseases up to 98% when used correctly. Unfortunately, many men refuse to use them, claiming they are uncomfortable or reduce pleasure — leaving their partners vulnerable to serious health risks.

Some women turn to birth control pills as an alternative, believing it to be a safe solution. However, research from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) shows that long-term use of hormonal contraceptives can increase a woman’s risk of breast cancer by up to 38%. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, women who use daily pills, injections, or implants for under one year have a 9% increased risk, but if used continuously for 10 years, that risk can climb to 38%.

3. Demanding Intimacy During Menstruation

Sexual intercourse during menstruation can have serious health consequences for women. At this time, the uterine lining is still open, making it highly susceptible to bacterial contamination.

According to Dr. Trần Ly Hồng (First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University), engaging in intercourse during this sensitive period significantly increases the risk of infections and gynecological diseases. If left untreated, these conditions can develop into cervical cancer.

Therefore, during menstruation, if a husband or partner makes such demands, women should firmly refuse in order to protect their health.
