A dog named Trixie was found in horrific condition, the result of years of neglect that left her with severely matted fur and dead skin. But after receiving the love and care she so desperately needed, Trixie has made an extraordinary transformation. ❤️

On October 21, the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Corpus Christi, Texas, shared the news that they had taken in Trixie, who was transferred from Corpus Christi Animal Care Services. The dog was found hiding in a terrible state: her fur was completely matted, she had a severe buildup of dried, dead skin, and she had scratched herself so much that her skin was raw, pink, and bleeding.

The Gulf Coast Humane Society wrote on Facebook, “Trixie, being as young as she is, shows the duration of neglect she endured before coming into our care.”

Despite the heartbreaking sight, the rescue organization promised to help her heal: “From pain to comfort, from fear to love, and from the shelter to a forever home where she’ll never feel this kind of suffering again.”

Thanks to the generous donations from supporters, the humane society gave Trixie the attention and care she had been denied for so long. Slowly, Trixie began to heal, and her true beauty started to emerge.

By October 30, the rescue shared an update with photos of Trixie looking like a completely different dog. Her matted fur had been removed, her skin was healing, and some hair had even begun to grow back.

“Trixie’s transformation isn’t just physical; you’ve given her a new outlook on life,” the humane society wrote. “She’s discovering comfort and love for the very first time, and we know that one day, she’ll have a forever home where she’ll never have to endure this kind of suffering again.”

Many followers were moved by the change: “She looks like she feels so much better already,” one person commented. “She looks amazing!” said another. “What a beautiful girl. I want her.”

In December 2024, the Gulf Coast Humane Society shared an update showing Trixie in her new home with her new companion, or "brother," as it were.

“Trixie Louise is settling in very nicely. She loves her brother very much, and he loves her. She loves sitting on your lap and snuggling. We all love her very much and are very happy she is a part of our family. Thank you!”
