A GoFundMe has been launched for the family of a 28-year-old man whose 'shock' passing has left his loved ones 'still searching for answers'.

On March 15, Dylan Jay Watts from Moruya on the New South Wales South Coast, Australia, passed away at just 28 years old.

On a GoFundMe page started for Dylan and his family, his younger sister Caitlyn Watts said the young dad - father to an eight-year-old son - was 'severely ill with a bacterium in his lungs'.

Doctors reportedly found '72 holes that would never repair' in Dylan's lungs leading to them to tell him he 'would be lucky to make it to his 30th birthday'.

Caitlyn continued: "There is a fragility in all of us, his memory and his story will be remembered by many who loved him and he will be forever missed.

"Let this be a reminder that those you love can be gone in an instant so hold them close today and tell them you love them."

Dylan's mom Suzanne Coote also spoke out, taking to Facebook to share photographs of her son, alongside the caption: "My family was torn apart last week. My son Dylan, left this cruel world, too young.Too fast. He was very sick with a rare lung condition. His quality of life was deteriorating fast. We never imagined he would pass away suddenly, three days before he turned 29.

"He was a kind, sensitive, loyal man. An inquisitive delightful boy, and always my baby. Forever Young - No Regrets."

In a later post, she added the family were 'close to bringing Dylan home,' sharing the link to the GoFundMe page and thanking everyone who'd donated so far.

She also noted the family 'are still searching for answers'.

"We are still searching for answers as to why this progressed so quickly. My son is the light in my life, the strength in my stride and I am his voice," she continued. "We want to give him the memorial he deserves. A special event where we can all come together and celebrate his life."

The GoFundMe - set up by a friend of the family - resolved: "Although Dylan had been unwell, this has of course come as a shock to his loved ones who are now having to deal with not only their grief, but the stress of having to organise his farewell.

"To help Dylan’s family be able to celebrate his life and have the send-off that he deserves, please donate if you can and share.

"Thank you from Dylan’s family."
