A young student has been left heartbroken after her five-month-old Maltipoo puppy was killed in a brutal attack involving three off-leash dogs at a Western Sydney park.

The woman, who asked to be identified only as Wawa, said she had taken her puppy Wuwu for a walk at Auburn’s dog park around 1pm on Thursday when the horrifying incident unfolded. According to Wawa, a middle-aged man entered the park with three dogs — two short-haired dachshunds and a brown pitbull.

She recalled that one of the dachshunds lunged at Wuwu first, quickly followed by the other dachshund and the pitbull. “Wuwu was bitten on his neck and bleeding a lot. I was cuddling him and screaming, but the owner didn’t even try to take his dogs back,” Wawa told 7NEWS.com.au.

During the chaos, Wawa herself was bitten and left with injuries, covered in both her own blood and her puppy’s.

Desperate to save Wuwu, she rushed him to a veterinary clinic, where she was told he would require a blood transfusion at another facility. Tragically, the puppy died from severe blood loss before treatment could be arranged. Wuwu would have celebrated his six-month birthday the following day.

“I’m so upset … he was turning six months old tomorrow,” Wawa said, holding back tears.

When she asked the dogs’ owner for his contact details, she claimed he refused. A passer-by also attempted to intervene but could only manage to photograph the man’s car before he left the scene.

Wawa later shared her story on a community social media page, where other dog owners came forward alleging similar attacks by the same trio of dogs. Some even posted pictures of the man’s dogs from previous encounters.

“If your dogs have attacked that many people, you should have put muzzles on them,” Wawa said, demanding accountability and compensation.

She is now calling on the community for help identifying the man, urging other pet owners to remain vigilant at local parks. “I’m asking for the community’s help to find this person and to remind everyone to please stay safe at the park.”

NSW Police confirmed they launched an investigation into the attack at around 3.30pm on Thursday after receiving reports of the incident.
