Cupertino, California — After years of requests from users, Apple has finally introduced a long-awaited charging upgrade with the launch of its iPhone 17 lineup, offering faster power delivery and the longest battery life ever seen in an iPhone.

Faster Charging Than Ever

Apple confirmed that the new models — the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the ultra-thin iPhone Air — can now charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes when paired with a compatible USB-C power adapter. That’s up to 10 minutes faster than last year’s iPhone 16.

The exception is the iPhone Air, which, due to its slimmer design, reaches 50% in around 30 minutes.

Reactions online have been overwhelmingly positive, with one customer exclaiming: “Finally! This is the most exciting new release.”

Battery Life Boost

Alongside faster charging, the iPhone 17 series offers significantly extended battery performance. Apple’s estimates for video playback times showcase the improvement:

  • iPhone 16 Pro: 27 hours

  • iPhone 17 Pro: 33 hours

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 33 hours

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 39 hours — the longest of any iPhone yet

  • iPhone Air: 27 hours

The Pro Max variant sets a new benchmark for iPhone longevity, promising nearly two full days of moderate use.

Introducing the iPhone Air

One of the most striking additions is the iPhone Air, Apple’s thinnest smartphone ever at just 5.6mm thick. Despite its slim profile, Apple insists the device remains durable while delivering “all-day battery life.”

It features a 48MP Fusion Main camera with 2x Telephoto, supporting next-generation portrait capabilities and other advanced imaging features. Apple describes the Air as “a piece of the future — powerful, yet so thin and light it seems to disappear in your hands.”

USB-C Chargers and Accessories

The iPhone 17 series requires a USB-C power adapter to take advantage of its rapid charging. Apple is releasing a 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max output, priced at $39. However, the company notes that any high-wattage USB-C charger will work — it does not need to be Apple-branded.

New Colors, Mixed Reactions

Apple also unveiled fresh color palettes, though not all have been well received:

  • iPhone 17: Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, Black, White

  • iPhone Air: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, Sky Blue

  • iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Cosmic Orange, Silver, Deep Blue

Some users criticized the Pro and Pro Max shades, with comments on social media lamenting the lack of “cute” options like pink. One critic joked: “Who are these for exactly? Dads?”

A Long-Awaited Upgrade

With faster charging, extended battery life, and bold new design choices, the iPhone 17 lineup marks a significant leap forward. While debates over colors continue, Apple’s long-time promise of faster power delivery has finally been fulfilled — and for many fans, that’s the feature they’ve been waiting for.
