WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday morning following a serious crash involving three commercial vehicles on southbound Interstate 75 in Center Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) reported that the accident occurred at approximately 6:37 a.m. near milepost 185, just south of Sugar Ridge Road.

How the Crash Happened

Investigators say a Freightliner tractor-trailer had pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate when it was struck by an International tractor-trailer driven by a 37-year-old man from Detroit. The impact forced the International semi across the southbound lanes, where it collided with a Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 33-year-old, also from Detroit.

At the time of the crash, the 60-year-old driver of the Freightliner, from Ontario, was standing outside on the shoulder. He was hit in the collision and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the International tractor-trailer also sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Peterbilt was not hurt, according to OSHP.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities continue to investigate the crash to determine what factors may have led to the collision. Traffic in the area was slowed during the morning commute as crews worked to clear the scene.

No Injuries Reported After Toledo School Bus Collision

TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo Public Schools bus was involved in a collision with a work truck Wednesday morning, though fortunately no one was hurt.

Police responded to the 600 block of Myers Street near Detroit Avenue at around 8:30 a.m. According to officers at the scene, a work truck with an extended side attachment scraped against the bus, breaking three windows.

Three students were on board at the time. Police confirmed that no injuries occurred, and Toledo Public Schools officials said parents were notified immediately. The students were then transported safely to school.

The incident remains under review, but authorities said it highlights the risks drivers face when navigating narrow city streets with oversized vehicles.
